It's a Wonderful Birthday

It's Karen's birthday today!!!:) Many thanks to His Creator for giving her 25 years to bless this world and thanks in advance for more years to come!

Karen spent the day together with her family, relatives, and friends from Singles for Christ. I was blessed to have talked to her for a few minutes. She told me another story that I will never forget.

Just like last year, Karen got sick before her special day. This time, she got sick twice in less than a month. In one of her visits to the hospital, Karen felt so weak to walk from the entrance of their compound to their house. While her mom was looking for a person in their compound who could fetch Karen with a motorbike, an old man approached her and offered help. He's the owner of the apartments which were being constructed a few meters from their house. He said that he would ask one of his laborers to fetch Karen with a cart. Karen was shy to accept the offer but she felt that the man was God's answer to her prayer for help.

Days after this, the old man passed away. Karen felt bad about this but was reassured that the good man is in Good Hands.

This incident made her more grateful about her birthday. Indeed, her birthday celebration is an act of thanksgiving for another year. Sometimes, she fears death but still manages to give a good fight.

Aside from Karen, all the people who love her are thankful for Karen's life and inspiration.

Passion

Karen is now serving as a facilitator in the Christian Life Program of SFC-LB. During weekdays, she takes rests and recharges her lungs with oxygen so she can have enough strength for the CLP on Saturdays.

After one CLP, Karen decided to go straight to the mass at San Antonio riding a tricycle. However, the driver dropped her off at LB Crossing because he would go to the market. Karen gathered all the strength to be able to cross the street in the fastest way she could. When she reached Jollibee, she pretended that she was waiting for somebody in order to rest. After a few minutes of rest, she walked again towards the church, which is just less than 50 meters away from Jollibee.

All the while, she was just praying to God. For Karen, that short walk is similar to Jesus' walk towards Calvary.

Calm Down

Months ago, a friend brought Liliw slippers to my house for me to sell. I had fun selling the slippers to my neighbors, friends, and relatives. I really felt that that opportunity is an unexpected blessing from above. God indeed is a god of surprises! We may not have assurances of what tomorrow may bring, but all we can to do prepare for it is to smile and be positive in whatever circumstances. Add to that the prayer for strength.

Then here comes the day with the twist. I went to my friend to get her payment for the three slippers she got from me. She has been using the slippers for two weeks when one got broken. She bombarded me with complaints and said that she will not pair for the broken pair. My blood pressure shoot up upon hearing her hurtful words. I tried myself to calm down and focus on the thought that everything will fall into place. I sent a message to my supplier friend and she just told me to calm down and pray for that person.

It's painful to think that the person who hurt me most is a good friend of mine. I had high expectations that she would understand what I'm going through and where I'm coming from. Days after our heated conversation, I went back to her house with full humility to get the payment for the other two pairs of slippers. I smiled at her and thanked for the payment. She did the same as if nothing happened the other day.

Deep in my heart, the pain is still fresh. It's really hard to forgive. However, I am reminded that I just came from dust, and someday will become dust again. I have no right not to forgive anyone. God, who turned us from nothing to special, always forgives us, so we must also forgive each other.

It's nice to sleep at night with peace in my heart and love overflowing in my soul. I know that God always takes care of everything because He considers all of us as His best.

Buhay

O masaya kang husgahan sila?

Kaibigan, may bukang liwayway pa
May bukas pa
Pwede pang magbago
Simulan mo na.

Kung ikaw ako
Maiintindihan mo ba ako?
Mapalad ka dahil kumpleto at malakas ka
Isa lang ang buhay
Nawa'y gamitin mo ito ng may kabuluhan.

My Savior Lives

In my heart, I know my Savior lives. I can hear Him calling tenderly my name. Over sin and death He has prevailed, in His new life we partake.- Song of Mary Magdalene

When I was asked to be a sharer in one of the talks of the Christian Life Program (CLP) of Singles for Christ, I instantly said yes because I knew it was God who wanted me to do it. Sunday came but I was feeling really sick. I still attended the CLP and did my task to show others how powerful God is.

Days passed after the sharing then I was hospitalized. I had swollen feet as well as urinary tract infection. During my first night in the hospital, I was very worried because of financial concerns regarding my hospitalization. So I closed my eyes, prayed, and I sang to my God "Everything I do, I do it for You". I asked God to take care of everything. When I opened my eyes, I felt better.

Friends from Singles for Christ visited me in the hospital. They never fail to make me feel special. They are always at my side in times of need. They never left me. I’ll forever be thankful to God because He gave me these "angels" in my life. Life is indeed hard, but when we start to make time for others it's when true happiness sparks.

Truly, God is alive. He gave me everything I needed, especially in connection to my health. He gave me the best family and friends to share life with through good and bad times. Most of all, He blessed me with a community that truly accepts me for who I am. It is my life, inspiration and the reason why I am in this world. I realized, this is truly a wonderful world because my God is truly alive in us.
